Role Overview:
We are seeking a Digital Forensics Technician to support forensic investigations, secure digital evidence, and assist legal and compliance teams. This role involves close collaboration with cybersecurity experts, legal departments, and internal teams to protect sensitive information and support enterprise risk management. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform forensic analysis on digital devices including hard drives, USBs, mobile phones, and cloud systems using tools like EnCase and Magnet AXIOM.
- Acquire and preserve digital evidence in accordance with forensic best practices, ensuring proper documentation and chain of custody.
- Support incident response and legal investigations by imaging, analyzing, and presenting findings in a secure, confidential manner.
- Assist in executing and managing legal hold requests, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Produce detailed forensic reports to support HR, compliance, legal, and internal investigations.
- Maintain forensic lab tools, software licenses, evidence tracking systems, and test environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity leadership, internal audit, legal, and compliance teams on matters involving data breaches or fraud.
- Translate technical findings for a wide audience, ensuring understanding of their legal and operational implications.
- Stay up to date with the latest digital forensic tools, techniques, and legal standards.
- Help improve existing forensic procedures and readiness capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in digital forensics, cybersecurity, or IT operations.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of operating systems (Windows/Linux), file systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving, investigative, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with forensic software like EnCase, Magnet AXIOM.
- Solid grasp of forensic procedures, evidence handling, and legal protocols.
- Experience in enterprise-level investigations or incident response.
- Knowledge of e-discovery, legal hold procedures, and litigation support processes.
- Industry certifications like EnCE, GCFA, GCFE, CFCE, or CCE are a plus.
- Prior experience with legal proceedings or expert witness testimony is advantageous.
