Job Description for GenC Role
Cognizant’s GenC position requires engineering graduates who can understand business requirements, clarify doubts, and maintain proper documentation. The role involves developing, testing, debugging and deploying code based on project needs. Candidates must also create test scenarios, understand data requirements and work efficiently in an Agile development ecosystem.
The job demands basic design capabilities, the ability to prioritize tasks, and ownership of deliverables. Teamwork, communication skills, and consistent effort toward upskilling or cross-skilling in new technologies are essential. Candidates are also expected to work collaboratively in project meetings and technical sessions to deliver dependable and cost-effective solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Only 2025 batch students from approved B.E, B.Tech, M.E or M.Tech programs can apply. Courses like Leather Technology, Fashion Technology and Food Technology are not considered. Candidates must maintain a minimum of 60 percent in Class X, Class XII, Diploma (if applicable), UG and PG. Rounding off scores is not permitted, and students with backlogs are not eligible.
At the time of joining, candidates must secure at least 60 percent in their ongoing degree. CGPA to percentage conversion will follow university norms. Applicants must be flexible to work from any Cognizant location, in the assigned technology and shift timings. Only Indian nationals and OCIs currently living in India can apply.
Students will receive all updates on their registered Superset email ID, which must remain unchanged throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
Document Requirements for Registration
Candidates must upload a recent resume with a passport-size photograph. Any industry-accredited certificates, if available, must also be submitted during registration.

Applicants must carry all academic records including school and college marksheets, college ID (if available), and the degree or provisional certificate for UG and PG programs.
Document Requirements for Onboarding
A PAN card is compulsory for onboarding and background verification. All details including the last name and father’s name must match the registered information. Additionally, a voter ID or passport is required to verify citizenship.
GenC Next Requirements
The GenC Next category is meant for candidates with strong technical and coding proficiency. Students must possess advanced programming knowledge and full-stack development skills with recognized certifications in technologies such as Java, C#, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle, Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Spring Boot, Data Structures, Algorithms and similar advanced topics.
GenC Pro Requirements
GenC Pro accommodates candidates with expertise in enterprise platforms and specialized technologies. Disciplines include Cybersecurity, Oracle, Salesforce, Mulesoft, Pega, SAP ABAP, SAP Basis and ServiceNow. Industry certifications in these skill areas are mandatory.
Cognizant will finalize the hiring category for each shortlisted candidate. The company retains complete decision-making authority regarding screening, eligibility, assessments, interviews and final selection.
